The School of Foreign Languages of Hubei University of Education boasts a 46-year history, a profound cultural heritage, an excellent academic atmosphere, and fruitful achievements in talent cultivation. Forging a Spiritual Identity: Prominently display and interpret the essence of the Educator’s Spirit on the school website, bulletin boards, and building spaces. Distill a school motto that reflects our identity—“Bridging China and the World, Enlightening Minds and Nurturing Hearts”—to embody the dual pursuits of educational ideals and pedagogical wisdom, allowing every faculty member and student to internalize these values through daily exposure.

教师是立教之本、兴教之源。打造一支具备教育家精神的师资队伍,是学院发展的核心任务。我院教师教学基本功扎实,教学风格各异,业务能力强,爱岗敬业,爱生如子。
Teachers are the foundation of education and the source of its vitality. Building a faculty imbued with the Educator’s Spirit is the core task of our school’s development. Our faculty members have solid teaching fundamentals, diverse teaching styles, strong professional competence, a deep commitment to their work, and a caring attitude toward students.

强化师德师风建设:引导教师坚守“心有大我、至诚报国”的理想信念,将个人发展融入国家教育事业。
Strengthening Teacher Ethics and Conduct: Guide faculty to uphold the ideal of “carrying a great mission in their hearts and serving the country with utmost sincerity”, aligning personal growth with the nation’s educational cause.
构建教师发展共同体:打破教研室壁垒,组建“教学创新团队”、“课程思政研究小组”等,鼓励教师围绕“启智润心、因材施教”开展集体备课、教学观摩和专题研讨。推行“青蓝工程”,让经验丰富的老教师传承“乐教爱生、甘于奉献”的仁爱之心,指导青年教师快速成长。
Building a Teacher Development Community: Break down barriers between teaching and research offices by forming “Teaching Innovation Teams” and “Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education Research Groups.” Encourage collective lesson planning, teaching observations, and thematic seminars centered on “enlightening minds, nurturing hearts, and teaching in accordance with students’ aptitudes.” Implement the “Qinglan Project” (Mentorship Program), where experienced veteran teachers pass on their “love for teaching and students, and willingness to give selflessly,” guiding young teachers in their rapid growth.
激励教师躬耕实践:鼓励教师“勤学笃行、求是创新”,不仅要做学术研究的“经师”,更要做育人的“人师”。支持教师深入中小学一线进行教学调研与实践,将基础教育的新鲜血液带回大学课堂,实现大学与基础教育的良性互动,真正做到理论联系实际。
Motivating Teachers to Engage in Practice: Encourage teachers to be “diligent in learning and earnest in practice, seeking truth and being innovative,” not only acting as “jingshi” (masters of knowledge) but also as “renshi” (teachers of humanity). Support teachers in conducting teaching research and practice in frontline primary and secondary schools, bringing fresh perspectives from basic education back to the university classroom, achieving a positive interaction between higher education and basic education, and truly integrating theory with practice.
学院教师多次荣获各级各类教学竞赛大奖:“外教社杯”全国高校外语教学大赛全国总决赛二等奖;外研社“教学之星”全国高校外语教学大赛总决赛三等奖、“中语杯”全国高校互联网+英语教学大赛特等奖、BETT全国商务英语翻译教师金课大赛特等奖等。





Our faculty has won numerous awards at various levels in teaching competitions: the second prize in the national finals of the “SFLEP Cup” National Foreign Language Teaching Competition for Colleges and Universities; the third prize in the national finals of the FLTRP “Star of Teaching” National Foreign Language Teaching Competition; the grand prize in the “Zhongyu Cup” National “Internet Plus” English Teaching Competition for Colleges and Universities; and the grand prize in the BETT National Business English Translation Teacher “Golden Course” Competition.

III. Reconstructing a Curriculum System of “Value Guidance + Capability Building” with the Spirit of the Educator as Its Soul
课程是落实育人目标的主渠道。将教育家精神融入课程建设,就是要让每一门课都成为育人阵地。
全面推进课程思政:深入挖掘外语课程中蕴含的思政元素。在《综合英语》中融入中外文明对比,增强文化自信;在《翻译》中探讨国家话语体系的构建;在文学课上赏析作品中的人性光辉与社会责任。让“价值引领”如盐在水,润物无声。
Curriculum is the primary channel for achieving educational goals. Integrating the spirit of the educator into curriculum development means turning every course into a platform for nurturing students.
Advancing Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education: Delve into the ideological and political elements embedded in foreign language courses. In “Comprehensive English”, integrate comparisons between Chinese and foreign civilizations to enhance cultural confidence; in “Translation”, explore the construction of a national discourse system; in literature courses, appreciate the brilliance of human nature and social responsibility in literary works. This allows “value guidance” to be as subtle as salt dissolving in water, nurturing things silently.
打造“金课”与“活课”:改革传统教学模式,推广项目式学习(PBL)、探究式学习。例如,课程中融入“模拟联合国”、“中小学英语教材分析与设计”、“跨文化交际实战”等,让学生在“做中学”,锻炼其“因材施教”的实践能力和“启智润心”的沟通能力。
Creating “Golden Courses” and “Dynamic Courses”: Reform traditional teaching models and promote project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based learning. For example, incorporate activities like “Model United Nations,” “Analysis and Design of Primary and Secondary School English Textbooks,” and “Practical Cross-Cultural Communication” into the curriculum, enabling students to “learn by doing” and hone their practical ability in “teaching according to aptitude” and their communication skills in “enlightening minds and nurturing hearts.”
强化实践教学环节:构建“三习贯通”一体化的实践教学体系。教育实习包含班级管理、家校沟通、教研活动参与的“准教师”全体验,让学生在实践中锤炼教学技能,培育善教本领,体悟教育家的责任与担当。
Strengthening practical teaching links: Construct an integrated practical teaching system that combines “three types of practice.” Educational internships include a comprehensive experience as a “pre-teacher” involving class management, home-school communication, and participation in teaching and research activities, allowing students to sharpen their teaching skills, develop their teaching abilities, and appreciate the responsibilities and commitments of an educator through practice.

四、以教育家精神为旨归,培养“一专多能”的复合型外语人才
IV. Cultivating Versatile, Interdisciplinary Foreign Language Talents with the Spirit of the Educator as the Ultimate Goal
人才培养是学院一切工作的出发点和落脚点。培养具备教育家精神的外语人才,是学院对社会的庄严承诺。
坚持“立德树人”与“五育并举”:在培养学生扎实的语言基本功和跨文化交际能力的同时,高度重视其思想政治素质、人文素养和身心健康。通过志愿服务、社会实践、文体活动等,促进学生全面发展,引导学生在服务社会中涵养乐教情怀,坚定从教信念。
Talent cultivation is the starting point and final goal of all work in the school. Cultivating foreign language talents with the spirit of educators is a solemn commitment of the school to society.
Adhering to “moral education and all-round development”: While cultivating students’ solid language fundamentals and cross-cultural communication abilities, attach great importance to their ideological and political qualities, humanistic literacy, and physical and mental health. Promote students’ all-round development through volunteer services, social practices, cultural and sports activities, etc., guiding them to cultivate a love for teaching and strengthen their belief in pursuing a teaching career while serving society.

培养学生的“仁爱之心”与“弘道追求”:鼓励学生参与支教、社区外语服务、国际会议志愿者等活动,在服务社会中体验“乐教爱生”的快乐,理解外语作为沟通桥梁的“弘道”价值。
Cultivating students’ “benevolent hearts” and “pursuit of promoting moral values”: Encourage students to participate in volunteer teaching, community foreign language services, and volunteering at international conferences, experiencing the joy of teaching and understanding the value of foreign languages as a bridge for communication in serving society.
塑造学生的创新精神与终身学习能力:在信息爆炸的时代,教育家精神也意味着“勤学笃行、求是创新”。着力培养学生的批判性思维、自主学习能力和研究能力,使其不仅能胜任当前工作,更能适应未来社会的变化,成为终身学习者和教育创新的推动者。
Shaping students’ innovative spirit and lifelong learning abilities: In the era of information explosion, the spirit of educators also means “studying diligently, acting conscientiously, seeking truth, and innovating.” Focus on cultivating students’ critical thinking, autonomous learning abilities, and research abilities, enabling them not only to be competent for current work but also to adapt to changes in future society and become lifelong learners and promoters of educational innovation.
